Weekly best bets
Week 1
In this episode, Rathmanner and VSiN’s Josh Appelbaum discuss a handful of NFL games to watch on the opening weekend. They touch on a few moneyline bets, as well as some point-spread picks.
It’s not often that you see the defending Super Bowl champions open as underdogs, but that is exactly what happens on Thursday night. The Rams are a great bet against a Washington club that is clouded by constant controversies.

The over here is a play on Green Bay’s inability to develop rapport with its new receivers after the loss of Davante Adams. They also have to deal with a Minnesota defense that can sack quarterbacks and stop the run. That will leave Rodgers unable to produce big numbers and the Vikings should be able to score points with relative ease.
Week 3
The Dolphins are a team to watch this week after their impressive comeback win in Baltimore last week. They’ll take advantage of a tough matchup with the Bills at Sun Life Stadium.
The model loves Kenneth Walker III to get a third consecutive 100-yard rushing game, putting him just 64 yards shy of 1,000 career TDs. He will help San Francisco cover this big number in well over 50% of simulations.
Week 4
The Seahawks have low-key been really good at defending the end zone, allowing just 38.5 percent of opponents’ TD attempts inside the 20. That, combined with their strong run defense and a struggling Detroit offense, makes this a great play on Seattle.
Buffalo’s nonexistent run game should keep Josh Allen chucking the ball all day and racking up a lot of passing yards. His numbers are easy to project and the Ravens’ pass defense is awful.
Week 5
The Bolts can make a big jump in the AFC playoff race with a win over the Ravens. That would be a big boost for Justin Herbert and this offense, too.
Heinicke’s turnover numbers are a little scary over the past two games, but this feels like a better spot for him to play a mistake-free game. The Bills defense is allowing 5.6 yards per pass, which is a good matchup for his second-year skill set.
Week 6
This game is an absolute mismatch from a betting perspective. The Vikings should dominate the Packers on offense. Aaron Rodgers lost Davante Adams and has yet to build an in-game rapport with his new receivers.
