The performance of your outboard motor depends on the type of fuel that you put into it. Some motors require gasoline, others diesel. All of them require oil. In order to properly maintain your engine, you will need to change the oil.
When you change your oil, you need to check the oil level with a dipstick. If your dipstick is covered with dirt or other debris, it needs to be cleaned. You should clean the dipstick with an approved cleaning device before you attempt to read the oil level.
When you are checking the oil level, be sure that you are holding the 25hp yamaha outboard for sale dipstick the right way. Your motor oil should be left at least 3/16 inch below the bottom of the oil filler plug.
Cleaning your oil filler plug is another task that you need to perform on your own. You will need to remove the filler plug cover and get into the plug. This should allow you to look inside and see if any debris is present.
Once you have done the cleanup job on your own, you can tighten the cover back over the plug. There should be no oil around the plug to spill onto the ground. If you have cleaned the plug and tightened it back up, you should have no further problems with your oil. When your motor starts, it will begin producing heat.
